Carmela Merced - Director

Our founder and director, Carmela Merced, enjoys serving her students and families by designing individualized academic support services to help students achieve their learning potential. She believes that all students can learn independently of age, socioeconomic status, or learning struggles. She integrates her Christian faith along with her passion for teaching and learning into the sessions and seminars she conducts. Her passion for individualized learning and educational & cognitive therapy started after she saw how much some students struggled in a traditional classroom setting and when one of her daughters also started experiencing learning difficulties.

Mrs. Merced is a Georgia-certified educator and an educational & cognitive therapist. She received her undergraduate degree in education from the University of Central Florida. Mrs. Merced completed her Educational Therapy coursework through the National Institute for Learning Development and completed her Cognitive Therapy training through the Feuerstein Institute. She has over twenty years of experience teaching in and outside of the classroom both in public & private schools. While serving in the traditional classroom, Mrs. Merced also mentored new teachers, served as lead-teacher, Academic Team Coach, and as a National Honor Society adviser.

Throughout the years, Mrs. Merced’s mentorship has helped her students earn numerous national and state recognition and scholarships such as: championships in Math Leagues, National Quiz Bowl, and National Honor Society Scholarships. She has also had the privilege to mentor new educational therapists through the National Institute for Learning Development. One of the highlights of her career has been to present conferences and seminars about learning in Kenya.

In her spare time, Mrs. Merced enjoys spending time with her husband and two daughters, and her dog, Leo. She also enjoys playing the piano, traveling, going to the beach, watching Jeopardy!, and eating chocolate.
